As the Group’s in-house IT service provider, TUI InfoTec began setting IT standards for the Group’s operations throughout the world many years ago, and created the technical backbone of a global business – a service that is now also available to external customers.

1997 TUI InfoTec grows out of the TUI Information Systems department and becomes the power behind the IT architecture of World of TUI.

1998 TUI becomes integrated within Preussag AG. TUI InfoTec takes over a whole range of IT companies from the holding. Local computer centre restructured within a very short period of time into an internationally active service provider.

2000 Migration of parts of Preussag Systemhaus (PSH) into TUI InfoTec. This was also the year when TUI InfoTec merged the IT division of the FIRST travel agency chain into its business. Restructuring of Preussag into today’s TUI AG: rapid expansion of the Group and the dynamic tourism market give rise to many international challenges successfully tackled by TUI InfoTec.

2002 TUI InfoTec takes over the mainframe operations for TUI Nordic. The TUI Controlling and Information System (TUFIS) wins the “Best Practice” award as the best data warehouse application in German-speaking countries.

2003 Integration within the computer centre in Hannover of the Unix platform of the English tour operator TUI UK.

2004 Integration of the IT division of Hapag-Lloyd airline.

2006 The Indian software company Sonata Software Ltd. acquires a 50.1 per cent share in TUI InfoTec. TUI AG retains 49.9 per cent. TUI InfoTec benefits from Sonata’s marketing and distribution experience as well as from its technology strengths and onsite/offshore methodology, and makes its comprehensive portfolio of solutions available to a wide variety of customers.

As the internet service provider for the TUI companies, TUI InfoTec maintains the TUI Group’s leading position in new technologies and e-commerce.
